Coming from the west coast of Canada which we have lots of rain, cold humidity and short spurts of heat waves, it was nice to come to Stresa and have a totally different climate. Arriving at the end of April through to mid-June, we only saw five minute downpours of rain and typically the temperature was 20 - 26 °C (68 - 78 °F).
Having to now stay through the summer months, well this is a different story. The heat has been dialed up to overnight lows of 24 and daily highs up to 39 °C (75 - 102 °F) and no reprieve from the past seven weeks. On very few occasions we have had a downpour but most last up to five minutes. However it was wonderful to have one day where we had rain for over three hours as well as hail and thunder and lightening. This video shows the different weather patterns:
With the temperate weather conditions, the warm summers bring lots of dry thunder and lightening. We have spent hours watching the storms in all their glory and both Stresa and Arona get some pretty wicked lightening shows.
I loved the weather in April to June as it was wonderful to take long walks at any time of the day. Summer has been tough to get outside and therefore has made us a lot more lazy. Thankfully with the heat, we drink lots of water and eat lighter. So looking forward to seeing what autumn and winter brings and sharing it with you.

Tempo Pazzesco a Stresa
Venendo dalla costa occidentale del Canada, dove abbiamo molta pioggia, umidità fredda e brevi ondate di caldo, è stato bello venire a Stresa e avere un clima completamente diverso. Arrivati alla fine di aprile fino a metà giugno, abbiamo visto solo cinque minuti di pioggia e in genere la temperatura era di 20 - 26 °C.
Dovendo ora rimanere durante i mesi estivi, beh, questa è una storia diversa. Il caldo ha raggiunto i minimi notturni di 24 e i massimi giornalieri fino a 39 °C, e nessuna tregua nelle ultime sette settimane. In pochissime occasioni abbiamo avuto un acquazzone, ma la maggior parte dura fino a cinque minuti. Tuttavia è stato meraviglioso avere un giorno in cui ha piovuto per oltre tre ore, poi grandine con tuoni e fulmini. Questo video mostra i diversi modelli meteorologici:
Con le condizioni climatiche temperate, le calde estati portano molti tuoni secchi e fulmini. Abbiamo passato ore a guardare i temporali in tutto il loro splendore e sia Stresa che Arona hanno degli spettacoli di fulmini piuttosto malvagi.
Ho adorato il clima da aprile a giugno perché era meraviglioso fare lunghe passeggiate in qualsiasi momento della giornata. L'estate è stata dura per uscire e quindi ci ha reso molto più pigri. Per fortuna con il caldo beviamo molta acqua e mangiamo più leggeri. Quindi non vedo l'ora di vedere cosa porta l'autunno e l'inverno e condividerlo con voi.
