L'italiano segue ogni sezione
We spent the day walking Milano and was in awe with the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II but walking past those two incredible landmarks we come across so much more history and thought I'd share the other wonderful areas we saw during this trip.
Coming through the galleria the first area we walk into is Piazza Della Scala, named after the renowned Teatro alla Scala Opera House. Here sits a monument to Leonardo Da Vinci which stands over 23 feet (7 meters) tall and it's base is made of Baveno granite.
The monument has five statues, of which the center marble statue is of Leonardo. At the lower level, on each corner of the monument, there are four pedastals that protrude and there stand the statues of Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio , Marco d'Oggiono , Cesare da Sesto and Gian Giacomo Caprotti (name of Andrea Salaino) who were four of Leonardo's students.
Inset on the base of the statue are four marble sculptures that represent four aspects of Leonardo's life in Milano.

Leonardo the sculptor - who models the equestrian statue of Francesco Sforza
Leonardo the architect and strategist - who directs the fortifications of the castles of Duke Valentino in Romagna
Leonardo the plumber - who attends to the works of pipelines for the irrigation of Lombardy
Abbiamo trascorso la giornata passeggiando per Milano e siamo rimasti sbalorditi dal Duomo e dalla Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, ma dopo quelli monumenti c'è molta più storia e ho pensato di condivisi le altre meravigliose aree che abbiamo visto durante questo viaggio.
Percorrendo la galleria, la prima area in cui entriamo è Piazza Della Scala, dal nome del famoso Teatro alla Scala. Qui si trova un monumento a Leonardo Da Vinci alto oltre 7 metri e la sua base è in granito di Baveno.
Il monumento ha cinque statue, di cui la statua marmorea centrale è di Leonardo. Al livello inferiore, ad ogni angolo del monumento, sporgono quattro piedistalli e vi si ergono le statue di Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, Marco d'Oggiono, Cesare da Sesto e Gian Giacomo Caprotti (nome di Andrea Salaino) che furono quattro Gli studenti di Leonardo.
Nella base della statua si trovano quattro sculture in marmo che rappresentano quattro aspetti della vita di Leonardo a Milano.

Right across the monument is the Teatro alla Scala Opera House. It would have been great to see the inside, but the line up to get in was too long. The theater was opened in 1778 and most of Italy's greatest operatic artists as well as the world's finest singers have appeared at La Scala. It is touted as one of the leading opera and ballet theater globally. It is home to the La Scala Theatre Chorus, La Scala Theatre Ballet, La Scala Theatre Orchestra, and the Filarmonica della Scala orchestra. The theatre also has an associate school, known as the La Scala Theatre Academy, which offers professional training in music, dance, stagecraft, and stage management.
Proprio di fronte al monumento si trova il Teatro alla Scala. Sarebbe stato bello vedere l'interno, ma la fila per entrare era troppo lunga. Il teatro fu aperto nel 1778 e alla Scala si sono esibiti la maggior parte dei più grandi artisti lirici italiani e i migliori cantanti del mondo. È pubblicizzato come uno dei principali teatri d'opera e di balletto a livello globale. Ospita il Coro del Teatro alla Scala, il Balletto del Teatro alla Scala, l'Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala e l'orchestra della Filarmonica della Scala. Il teatro ha anche una scuola associata, nota come Accademia Teatrale La Scala, che offre formazione professionale in musica, danza, scenografia e gestione scenica.

The rest of the time we walked in awe of the magnificent streets, architecture and people. Here are random shots of the sights we saw. Il resto del tempo abbiamo camminato in soggezione davanti alle magnifiche strade, architettura e persone. Ecco alcuni scatti casuali dei luoghi che abbiamo visto.
At the end of our walk we decided to stay in Milano for an early dinner. We walked for 1/2 an hour to find just the right spot. One that wasn't in the core city with lots of people or one that was empty. We opted for Gino's 1928, a pizzeria and restaurant that the menu options were exactly what we were looking for. Not only that, there was a place in the shade, which was what we needed to take the edge off the heat.
We quickly downed a couple of beers and shared a Bruschetta Caprese to start. Then I had a Margherita con Bufala pizza and Gianni had the Regina Diavola Pizza. For dessert we shared White Chocolate Mousse and Profiteroles. At the end of our meal the waiter brought us three little vials full of Limoncello, Meloncello and Pistacello which were all delicious, but I only had a tiny sip of the Meloncello and Pisatcello. Guess who drank the rest?
Alla fine della nostra passeggiata abbiamo deciso di rimanere a Milano per una cena anticipata. Abbiamo camminato per 1/2 ora per trovare il posto giusto. Uno che non era nel cuore della città con molte persone o uno che era vuoto. Abbiamo optato per Gino's 1928, pizzeria e ristorante che le opzioni di menu erano esattamente quello che cercavamo. Non solo, c'era un posto all'ombra, che era ciò di cui avevamo bisogno per allontanarci dal caldo.
Abbiamo bevuto rapidamente un paio di birre e abbiamo mangiato una Bruschetta Caprese per iniziare. Poi ho mangiato una pizza Margherita con Bufala e Gianni la pizza Regina Diavola. Per dessert abbiamo mangiato Mousse al cioccolato bianco e Profiteroles. Alla fine del nostro pasto il cameriere ci ha portato tre fiale piene di Limoncello, Meloncello e Pistacello che erano tutte deliziose, ma ho bevuto solo un piccolo sorso di Meloncello e Pisatcello. Indovina chi ha bevuto il resto?
