Makes 12 buns
I always have Pillsbury pizza dough in the fridge if I want to cheat and make a quick meal or dessert. Today I felt like cinnamon buns that were ooey gooey and these didn’t disappoint.
Ingredients
1 Pillsbury pizza dough
¼ cup melted butter
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup finely chopped walnuts
¼ cup finely chopped pecans
½ cup softened cream cheese
¼ cup softened butter
1 tbsp vanilla
¾ cup icing sugar
Direction
Preheat oven 375°F and line a 9 x 9 inch baking pan with parchment paper
Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface
Brush melted butter on dough (you will have leftover butter)
In a bowl combine sugar and cinnamon together (not the brown sugar)
Sprinkle sugar cinnamon on top of butter
Sprinkle brown sugar all over dough
Combine the two nuts and sprinkle on top of dough
Starting on the long end roll the dough up
Cut into 12 pieces and place in baking pan
Brush each roll with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar
Cover with a cloth for 10 minutes
Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown
While baking make cream cheese icing by placing cream cheese, butter and vanilla in a bowl and using an electric mixer mix until blended
Slowly add icing sugar and mix until smooth, set aside
When buns are ready let cool for 15 minutes
Spread cream cheese on the buns and serve while warm
Place any unfinished buns in the refrigerator and warm in microwave when serving
