Marinara Sauce

This marinara sauce is great for dipping appetizers into but also can be used in a pinch for as a pasta sauce. Kids absolutely love it on pasta with some cheese.


Ingredients

2 tbsp olive oil

2 finely chopped shallots

1 shredded carrot

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 can crushed tomatoes

1 can diced tomatoes

2 tbsp tomato paste

¼ cup fresh chopped basil

½ tsp dried oregano

1 tbsp sugar

½ cup water

Salt and pepper to taste


Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot and add shallots, carrot, and garlic until soft

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients except the salt and pepper

  3. Simmer on low heat until sauce reaches desired consistency, about 30 minutes

  4. Cool and serve as a dipping sauce for all your favourites

  5. Can be stored in fridge up to four days

  6. Can

be stored in freezer in small sealed tight containers for six months, take out and let thaw before use
