Maria’s Monte Cristo Sandwich and Sunflower Broccoli Slaw

Sometimes I love a warm sandwich and adding an egg coating just makes it taste so much better. I’ve served this with my Broccoli Slaw which pairs really well and is a hearty meal.


Ingredients

6 slices white bread

Mayonnaise

8 slices ham

4 slices Gouda cheese

3 eggs

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

2 tbsp butter


Directions

  1. Spread mayonnaise on each slice of bread

  2. Layer both sandwiches as follows

  3. Ham on top of mayo covered slice of bread

  4. Layer of 1 slice of cheese

  5. Layer of 1 slice of ham

  6. Layer of 1 slice of bread

  7. Layer of 1 slice of ham

  8. Layer of 1 slice of cheese

  9. Layer of 1 slice of ham

  10. Top with 1 slice bread

  11. When both sandwiches are made put a plate on each sandwich and add some weight on the plate to flatten the sandwich

  12. Keep the weight on for ½ hour

  13. Beat eggs and Dijon mustard together

  14. Melt butter in heated skillet

  15. Dip both sides of bread in egg and place in skillet

  16. Cover with lid and let each side cook until golden brown

Plate and cut sandwich in half and serve with broccoli slaw or any other salad
