Le Rondini B&B in Grions del Torre

We love to take advantage of B&Bs wherever we go because they allow us to meet some incredible people. Especially in the small towns where they have a wealth of information on the area and personal experience.

This past weekend we spent time in Friuli the region in Italy that Gianni is from. The little town of Prossenicco is 1/2 hours drive from Udine but its the winding roads that make it tough for me to go up and down the mountain. Therefore, when we are in this part of the world we always take a B&B on the flat lands as home base and then visit all our family and friends from there.

This time we chose to stay at Le Rondini in Grions del Torre, which is in the municipality of Povoletto, Udine. The hosts Edi and Elene made us feel part of the family as soon as we arrived by stating right up front that their home was ours. They showed us to our room and we were very surprised to see how modern and rustic charm combined perfectly to welcome us. It's really nice when a B&B has lots of pillows of different thickness and softness to choose from, and this one had several. There were also more blankets if required.

The bathroom had everything we needed. Soap, shampoo, towels and hair dryer. There even was an AC in the bedroom which made the room very comfy one night that the weather was over 30 degrees Celsius.

Just outside our room was a second guest room and a kitchen area where we could help ourselves to cold water, tea and coffee. They even had sweet snacks if we craved a midnight snack. Breakfast the first day was over the top. Elene had fruit salads, fruit yogurts, bread with butter and jams, brioches, biscotti and a plate of quiches and other items. She wanted to bring us prosciutto and cheeses as well but we told her we were happy with fruit, yogurt, bread and coffee. Every day breakfast was served outside on the terrace as the weather was beautiful and we were serenaded by the many different birds.

I asked Elene on why the name "Le Rondini B&B" and she told me that her favourite bird is the rondini which is a swallow. She told me she loves to watch them swoosh down like planes from the sky and take a drink of water in the pond. I sat one morning and watched that exact act and it truly is wonderful to watch the rondini in action. The villa dates back to the 1800's and the room we were sleeping in used to be the kitchen. Edi and Elene renovated the whole house and have four guest rooms they can offer up as they choose. Their three children, spouses and two grandchildren live on the property and help out in some way. It truly is a family passion and you can tell by the way they treat their guests, we are so blessed to have stayed here and thank the family for making us feel like we were in our own home.

The property is absolutely amazing and has a beautiful garden you can sit and enjoy breakfast in, a chicken coop , and the friendliest French bull dog, Buddy you have ever seen. He just wants so much love and you can't help but give it. We had a wonderful four days at Le Rondini and would recommend it to anyone. If you have any questions on it please don't hesitate to ask. Ci piace sfruttare i B&B ovunque andiamo perché ci permettono di incontrare persone incredibili. Soprattutto nelle piccole città dove hanno una ricchezza di informazioni sulla zona e di esperienza personale.

Lo scorso weekend abbiamo trascorso del tempo in Friuli, la regione in Italia da cui proviene Gianni. La cittadina di Prossenicco è a 1/2 ora di auto da Udine ma sono le strade tortuose che mi rendono difficile andare su e giù per la montagna. Pertanto, quando siamo in questa parte del mondo, prendiamo sempre un B&B in pianura come base di partenza e poi visitiamo tutta la nostra famiglia e i nostri amici da lì.

Questa volta abbiamo scelto di soggiornare presso Le Rondini a Grions del Torre, che si trova nel comune di Povoletto, Udine. I padroni di casa Edi ed Elene ci hanno fatto sentire parte della famiglia appena siamo arrivati ​​affermando subito che la loro casa era la nostra. Ci hanno mostrato la nostra camera e siamo rimasti molto sorpresi di vedere come il fascino moderno e rustico si combinasse perfettamente per accoglierci. È davvero bello quando un B&B ha molti cuscini di diverso spessore e morbidezza tra cui scegliere, e questo ne aveva diversi. C'erano anche più coperte se necessario.

Il bagno aveva tutto ciò di cui avevamo bisogno. Sapone, shampoo, asciugamani e asciugacapelli. C'era anche un condizionatore in camera da letto che ha reso la camera molto confortevole una notte che il tempo era di oltre 30 gradi Celsius.

Appena fuori dalla nostra camera c'era una seconda camera per gli ospiti e una zona cucina dove potevamo servirci acqua fredda, tè e caffè. Avevano anche spuntini dolci se desideravamo uno spuntino di mezzanotte. La colazione del primo giorno era esagerata. Elena aveva macedonie di frutta, yogurt alla frutta, pane con burro e marmellate, brioches, biscotti e un piatto di quiche e altro. Voleva portarci anche prosciutto e formaggi, ma le abbiamo detto che eravamo contenti di frutta, yogurt, pane e caffè. Ogni giorno la colazione veniva servita all'aperto sulla terrazza perché il tempo era bellissimo e ci facevano una serenata dai tanti uccelli diversi.

Ho chiesto a Elene perché il nome "Le Rondini B&B" e mi ha detto che il suo uccello preferito è il rondini. Mi ha detto che adora guardarli sfrecciare giù come aerei dal cielo e bere un sorso d'acqua nello stagno. Mi sono seduto una mattina e ho guardato quell'esatto atto ed è davvero meraviglioso vedere i rondini in azione. La villa risale al 1800 e la stanza in cui dormivamo un tempo era la cucina. Edi ed Elene hanno ristrutturato l'intera casa e hanno quattro camere per gli ospiti che possono offrire. I loro tre figli, coniugi e due nipoti vivono nella proprietà e aiutano in qualche modo. È davvero una passione di famiglia e puoi vedere dal modo in cui trattano i loro ospiti, siamo così fortunati ad aver soggiornato qui e ringraziamo la famiglia per averci fatto sentire come se fossimo a casa nostra.

La proprietà è assolutamente incredibile e ha un bellissimo giardino dove puoi sederti e goderti la colazione.Hanno un cane toro francese, Buddy, più amichevole che tu abbia mai visto.
