Palm Sunday was the beginning of Holy Week which lasts for seven days leading up to Easter which includes the important events below however, today I will talk about Great Saturday (Holy Saturday).
Holy Saturday is the last day of Holy Week and Christians all over the world prepare for the feast of Easter Sunday. In Jesus’ time, he was placed in a tomb and guards were stationed there to keep watch that the disciples didn’t steal Jesus’ body. Meanwhile, Jesus descended into hell, not to destroy hell of damnation, but to free the “just” who had gone before him. For those around him, it was a day of waiting and meditating and praying.
In the Catholic church, it is about being silent and waiting for Jesus. It is about deep prayer and meditation. There is no mass, there is no Holy Communion (unless someone is having last rights), the celebration of marriages is forbidden, as the celebration of any of the other sacraments, except those of Penance, Anointing of the Sick and Baptism is permitted if case of someone dying. Holy Saturday is observed until 6 pm and at that point, Easter Vigil is celebrated.
Easter Vigil marks the official start to the Easter Season. The service may start with fire and the lighting of a new Paschal Candle. This is the first mass since Holy Thursday, and during this mass the “Gloria” which wasn’t used in masses during lent, is used. The altar is properly decorated and the cloths are taken off the statues. There are many readings from the Sacred Scriptures that are read as well as many responsorial psalms.
Then comes the baptismal liturgy where if there are candidates for baptism they are baptized. If there are none, then the baptismal font and baptismal water should be blessed. Next follows the renewal of baptismal promises of all those who have been baptized. And finally, is the celebration of the Eucharist, the high point, for it is the Easter Sacrament. It commemorates the Sacrifice of the Cross and the presence of the risen Christ. This mass usually lasts three hours.

La Domenica delle Palme era l'inizio della Settimana Santa che dura sette giorni fino alla Pasqua, che include gli eventi importanti di seguito, tuttavia, oggi parlerò del la Passione di Gesù o Venerdì Santo.
Il Sabato Santo è l'ultimo giorno della Settimana Santa e i cristiani di tutto il mondo si preparano per la festa della Domenica di Pasqua. Al tempo di Gesù, fu posto in una tomba e lì erano appostate delle guardie per vigilare che i discepoli non rubassero il corpo di Gesù. Nel frattempo, Gesù discese all'inferno, non per distruggere l'inferno della dannazione, ma per liberare i "giusti" che lo avevano preceduto. Per coloro che lo circondavano, era un giorno di attesa, meditazione e preghiera.
Nella chiesa cattolica, si tratta di tacere e aspettare Gesù. Si tratta di una preghiera profonda e di una meditazione. Non c'è messa, non c'è la Santa Comunione (a meno che qualcuno non abbia gli ultimi diritti), la celebrazione dei matrimoni è proibita, così come la celebrazione di uno qualsiasi degli altri sacramenti, ad eccezione di quelli della Penitenza, dell'Unzione degli infermi e del Battesimo è permessa in caso di decesso di qualcuno. Il Sabato Santo si osserva fino alle ore 18 e a quel punto si celebra la Veglia Pasquale.
La Veglia Pasquale segna l'inizio ufficiale della stagione pasquale. Il servizio può iniziare con il fuoco e l'accensione di un nuovo cero pasquale. Questa è la prima messa dopo il Giovedì Santo, e durante questa messa viene utilizzato il "Gloria" che non veniva utilizzato nelle messe durante la Quaresima. L'altare è adeguatamente decorato e le tovaglie sono state tolte dalle statue. Ci sono molte letture delle Sacre Scritture che si leggono, così come molti salmi responsoriali.
Poi viene la liturgia battesimale, dove se ci sono candidati al battesimo vengono battezzati. Se non ce ne sono, allora il fonte battesimale e l'acqua battesimale dovrebbero essere benedetti. Segue poi il rinnovo delle promesse battesimali di tutti coloro che sono stati battezzati. E infine, è la celebrazione dell'Eucaristia, il punto più alto, perché è il Sacramento della Pasqua. Commemora il Sacrificio della Croce e la presenza di Cristo risorto. Questa messa dura solitamente tre ore.
