Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - Milano

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

When you leave the piazza where the Duomo (Cathedral) of Milano stands you can choose to go into Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and if in Milano this is a MUST SEE. No where will you see architecture like this merge with fashion extravaganza.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the the oldest shopping gallery in Milano. It is truly an amazing landmark and is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. It was built between 1865 - 1877 by Giuseppe Mengoni. As of 2013 it is occupied by luxury retailers selling haute couture, jewelry, books, paintings, restaurants, bars, and the Town House Galleria Hotel.

I, like many others in the gallery, stood in the center dome in awe of all the it's beauty.

Here is a photo in Pano that shows the whole area in one shot. Got to love PANO for that.

Photo's of Haute Couture in the galleria

We enjoyed coffee and a brioche in the famous Motta Milano 1928, which was inaugurated by Angelo Motta in 1928 as the first historical bar in in Milano's Galleria Vittorio Emanuela II. I had an iced coffee which they called Caffé Shakerato.

The Camparino in Galleria is a bar originally named Caffè Campari by Gaspare Campari - inventor of the homonymous bitter in 1867. Later in 1915, his done Davide opened the Camperino in the Galleria, and to this day it is still called that and in 2021 placed 27th the The World's 50 Best Bars list.

Just outside of this area are a couple other stores I'd like to highlight. Ferrari's flagship store in Milano is absolutely beautiful. I was in love with the silk dress with the winning Ferrari's imprinted on it. That is until I heard it was 1,800 Euros. Here are some great Ferrari pictures:

Lastly was the Fendi Casa store. I didn't even know Fendi made furniture. It was way out there.....
