One thing I absolutely love about living in Arona is going to the weekly market. It is a hustle and bustle world that you can shop and people watch for hours. The vendors start arriving with their trucks around 6:30 am, and most of them have a designated spot the set-up in.
By 8:00 am, people start arriving from the local areas to get a coveted parking spot. Before they shop, they go to the local café and have a coffee and brioche. Now they are ready to explore what the vendors have to offer, and this market in Arona has plenty of goods.
Things you will find:
Clothes: I think this is the biggest item at a market. There are clothes for everybody in the family. Menswear and children’s clothes are not as prevalent as the womenswear. You will find the right pant, top, dress, jacket for the right season and for amazing prices and colours. You will also find several vendors selling underwear for everyone in the family
Accessories: Of course you need the accessories to go with the clothes, therefore you will find vendors selling shoes, hats, purses, jewelry, cellphone cases and eyewear
Household items: Several vendors have kitchen gadgets, small appliances, utensils, pots & pans, laundry items, linens, bedspreads, bathroom items and records and CDs
Food: There is a whole area dedicated to local farm fruits and vegetables as well as gardening plants. Another area, artisans sell their homemade salami, cheeses, jams, oils, breads, and cookies. There is usually a butcher and a fish vendor as well as a vendor that sells rotisserie chicken and meats. The smells are unbelievable, well not the fish area
Pet shop: Lastly there are a couple of vendors selling just the right thing for your pets. They even sell live birds
Today I was looking for a couple of capri pants to wear now that the weather is better. The market didn’t disappoint. I find the right pants for 15 euros each. Even if they last me a season, it is money well spent.
If you are travelling in Italy, ask your local advisor when market day is. Everyone needs to experience this cultural tradition at least once.

Una cosa che amo assolutamente del vivere ad Arona è andare al mercato settimanale. È un mondo frenetico che puoi fare acquisti e guardare la gente per ore. I venditori iniziano ad arrivare con i loro camion intorno alle 6:30 del mattino e la maggior parte di loro ha un posto designato in cui allestire.
Alle 8:00 del mattino, le persone iniziano ad arrivare dalle aree locali per ottenere un ambito parcheggio. Prima di fare la spesa, vanno al bar locale e bevono un caffè e una brioche. Ora sono pronti a esplorare ciò che i venditori hanno da offrire e questo mercato di Arona ha un sacco di merci.
Cose che troverai:
Vestiti: Penso che questo sia l'articolo più importante in un mercato. Ci sono vestiti per tutta la famiglia. L'abbigliamento maschile e per bambini non è così diffuso come l'abbigliamento femminile. Troverai il pantalone, il top, l'abito, la giacca giusti per la stagione giusta e per prezzi e colori incredibili. Troverai anche diversi venditori che vendono biancheria intima per tutta la famiglia
Accessori: Naturalmente hai bisogno degli accessori per accompagnare i vestiti, quindi troverai venditori che vendono scarpe, cappelli, borse, gioielli, custodie per cellulari e occhiali
Articoli per la casa: diversi venditori hanno gadget da cucina, piccoli elettrodomestici, utensili, pentole e padelle, articoli per il bucato, biancheria, copriletti, articoli per il bagno, dischi e CD
Cibo: C'è un'intera area dedicata alla frutta e alla verdura delle fattorie locali e alle piante da giardinaggio. In un'altra zona, gli artigiani vendono i loro salumi fatti in casa, formaggi, marmellate, oli, pane e biscotti. Di solito c'è un macellaio e un venditore di pesce, e anche un venditore che vende pollo e carne allo spiedo. Gli odori sono incredibili, beh non la zona del pesce
Negozio di animali: Infine, ci sono un paio di venditori che vendono la cosa giusta per i tuoi animali domestici. Vendono anche uccelli vivi
Oggi stavo cercando un paio di pantaloni capri da indossare ora che il tempo è migliore. Il mercato non ha deluso. Trovo i pantaloni giusti a 15 euro l'uno. Anche se mi durano una stagione, sono soldi ben spesi.
Se viaggi in Italia, chiedi al tuo consulente locale quando è il giorno di mercato. Tutti hanno bisogno di sperimentare questa tradizione culturale almeno una volta.
